Tons of things happened this week in Mrs. F's class. To get ready for our last math test, we did "The Sum Times." On Wednesday, we had the test! It was LONG. In Daily 5, we learned how to write a new poem. We wrote our own diamontes. The Saguaro Cactus started to grow very slowly too!!! The Ferguson Foals are in Inning 8 of Baseball Bonanza. The game's almost over! We had a very exciting week of second grade!

Many things happened our fourth to last week of second grade! We started counting down the number of days until third grade (Can you tell?). Everyone took their last spelling test of second grade. For our last lesson with Mrs. S, we made a foal picture. In math we reviewed what we did this year to get ready for our end of the year assessment. We wrote a couplet and haiku during Daily 5. We hope these are some of the days we will remember from our second grade year!

Many things happened this week! Our class did baseball math and made the Mariners' symbol. We worked a lot on sound and did three experiments. Everyone worked on a new box book report. In math we are learning multiplication and division. During Daily 5 we are practicing using apostrophes in contractions and possessives. These are some of the things we did this week!

Lots was up in room 18 and at Discovery this week! We learned about the ear and did a sound experiment. Mrs. F got out some new poetry books for us to read. We wrote a bio-poem and started typing it. Our water lilies were in the school Art Show! The whole school started a contest to see who would be the CARES artists for the 2011-2012 school year. These are some of the fun things that happened this week!

Tons of things were great about our 2nd Grade Concert and Ecology Expo! We sang "Banana" at our concert. Our class played "The Chinese Ribbon Dance on instruments. We gave our moms their Mother's Day gifts. We also showed our work, including our Baseball Stamps. Our families saw EVERYTHING!!! These are some of the wicked awesome things about our concert and expo.

Lots of work was going on in grade 2 this week! We wrote our stories for Ecology Expo. Our final drafts are typed and bound like a book. The whole second grade had a rehearsal for our concert. We also made a model with clay of our organism. In math we are working on making change and place value. We wrote a poem for our moms and made a special gift. It was a crazy, hard, and thoughtful week!

Awesome things happened in grade two this week! We learned about the horned lizard. The whole class worked on improving Mrs. F's super boring paragraph in pairs and individually. In Daily 5, we also started book reports and learned about shortcut words. In the computer lab, we started All the Right Type. Mrs. F and the class finished reading Matilda and started to the movie too! These are the cool things we did this week.

A bunch of great things happened in second grade this week! Our class learned facts about the wood rat. We talked about capacity and made a silly guy named Gallon Guy. Ken Nesbitt visited our school to read his poetry to us. Second grade started Baseball Bonanza too. There's a new team in town- The Ferguson Foals! Everyone earned lots of baseballs for listening well and doing their work. That's what happened in room 18!

We did many fun things this first week of spring! Everyone learned about and drew the elf owl. Our class read The Cactus Hotel, finished a book report with a partner, and made our own cactus hotel. We finished our groundhog stories. In math, we learned about measurement. We painted tulips like another famous artist Mrs. S taught us about. Mrs. F mailed off her (and ours too) work for National Boards too. These are the great things we did this week!

In class this week we had lots of fun! We've been learning about fractions in math. They are awesome! In science we are learning more about the desert. Our class is even growing a Saguaro Cactus! We hope we will see it grow (even if it is just a little). Some of us are finished with our groundhog stories. We are making covers and publishing them. We hope they will be in stores soon!!! We are almost done with our read-aloud, Matilda. She's been getting into a lot of trouble! These are the fun things we've been doing.

There were many things that we did in second grade this week! We did lots of learning about the desert. In Daily 5 we worked on our groundhog stories. The leprechauns left us lollipops on Saint Patrick's Day. We learned about the parts of speech and wrote sentences about rainbows. In math we had our Unit 7 Test. These are a few of the things we did in school.

Lots of wicked cool things happened at Discovery this week! During Daily 5 our owls started writing! Together we worked hard on writing our own groundhog stories like Mrs. F's. Our class started studying the desert in science. Second Graders did the CogAT and SOI tests. We made leprechauns to decorate our room. These are the neat things that happened at school!

Our class did many things the first week after Mid-Winter Break! We wrote acrostic poems about weather. Mrs. F started writing a GIGANTIC story titled WAKE UP, Groundhog!. We learned about time and made colorful clocks. Everyone also made owl puppets after reading a story about owls. Starting this week whoever gets to sit in the beanbag chair also gets to sit on a ball chair for the day! We dropped everything to read in celebration of Dr. Seuss' Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!!! These are some of the things we did this week after Mid-Winter Break.

Room 18 spent the week in second grade doing many fun things. Everybody traded valentines with each other. We published our paragraph on the groundhog. Our class studied Matisse in art. When we worked hard in our classroom and in music we earned ten pom pom points. Our pig is very colorful and almost FULL! The week after break we start gymnastics in P.E. These are some of the awesome things we did!

Our class did tons of interesting things this week. We started doing third grade math! We worked on multiplication and division. Our class wrote a groundhog paragraph and started to check it. This week we started a new listen to reading called Tumblebooks. Also, we did silent letters in spelling. Each of us added to a class compliment chain too! That's what we did this week. It was lots of fun!

We were up to lots of cool things in Mrs. F's room this week. We made a bunch of awesome lighting bolts for our unit on weather. Everybody made BIG woven hearts for Valentine's Day. We learned about two animals people use to predict the weather: the Canada Goose & Groundhog. On the first day of February, we made prognostications about the weather by looking at our "What's it like outside?" Mrs. S came and showed us how to draw the groundhog. Our class finished the Stanford too! That's what was going on in our room this week.

Lots of things happened in our room this week! Our class made big hearts for the specialists to tell them what we LOVE about their class. We started practicing for the Stanford. In writing we learned how to make a hamburger writing map. In math we did a goal check. In science we started our Nature Journals. We also made raindrops from waxed and tissue paper. These are the cool things we did!

We did thousands of things in our class this week! We made a sun, clouds, and snowflakes for our unit on weather. In spelling we thought of words with short o and long a. In math we started counting to a googol. We also celebrated LOTS of 1/2 birthdays! We changed our desks into a horseshoe. These are some of the interesting, fun, and awesome things we did!

Many things happened in Mrs. F's room this week. We PARTIED more with double digit addition. We learned about parallel lines and angles. We also made a shape museum! Organism Oscillations started again this week. We love this time! In Daily 5 we wrote about imaginary fish. Then in art we learned about Picasso. We had the best week EVER!

Our class did many things our first week of 2011! In Morning Meeting we learned the snowball greeting. We started having a Double Digit Addition Party EVERY day and it is really fun! In math we are also learning about points, lines, and shapes in space. We started recording the weather each day in our "What's it like outside?". In Daily 5 we learned a new strategy for expanding our vocabulary: Read Voraciously! 2011 is going to ROCK!

We were busy this last week before winter break! We made stores, a fire station, a park and more for our Snowflake City. We made thinking caps for our community too. Mrs. H came in and taught us about production and assembly line work in the Baseball Community. At Morning Meeting we started asking questions instead of making comments on other's sharing. In Daily 5, we read Officer Buckle & Gloria for fun. We were movie stars when a place in our Snowflake City came up for lease! The store we picked was Arthur's Animal Shelter. On the last day we went to Sammamish City Hall and Police Station. We will miss our classmates and teacher over Winter Break!

Cool community things happened in our room this week!!! We made a map of the community of Sammamish. Then, we started to build our own community on the window of our classroom. A businessman from Costco came and told us about how businesses work with our neighborhoods. A veterinarian came and told us about how she cares for community member's pets. Our community firefighters visited and told us about how they help people in our community. We love learning about communities and hearing from community members!

This week we did lots of fun things! We finished our wetland unit and made our "All About the Wetlands" Books. Mrs. F took down all of our wetland work. : ( We started our unit on communities and found where our clasmates live on Google Maps. Our parents visited our classroom for conferences with Mrs. F on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, we did change to more problems in math. We also celebrated someone's birthday and sang the Military Birthday Song. We hope our weekend and next week is just as great!

Tons of things happened in our room this week. On Thursday we had no school because of Veteran's Day. In science, we learned about what happens when we change a wetland ecosystem by adding or taking away organisms. Also, our science specialist came and talked to us about germs. In math, we talked about weight and learned how to weigh things in ounces and pounds. We started a new Ladybug CAFE strategy to use when reading too! We loved learning this week!!!

We liked doing many thing this week in grade two! We learned about the blue heron and drew it. In the computer lab, we made a graph of our favorite wetland organisms. We did WACKY Wednesday Writing and wrote a paragraph about the wetlands together. Our school went to a Veteran's Day Assembly and heard songs about America. Mrs. S came to teach us art and we made lily pads from clay. We had a great and awesome week!

We were very busy in Mrs. F's class the last week of October! We all made our own bug costume to wear at our BUG PARTY!!! At our party we wore our costumes, read our bug rhyme, made bug origami, and watched Bug's Life. We even had popcorn with a pretend bug in it! In science, we learned about a great bug eater, the frog. The day after Halloween, we learned all about Body Systems in all of the second grade classrooms. Mrs. F read us a story called Parts about what happens when these systems in our body fall apart. We had a very buggy and spooky week!

We did a lot of things in Mrs. Ferguson's class this week! Mrs. Hogan taught us how to make little books about whatever we'd like. We learned about, made a chart on, and watercolored a picture of a beaver. We started getting ready for our BUG PARTY! Mrs. F read us a story called Under One Rock and we did bug art with Mrs. Svore about it. During Daily 5 we started playing Buggles! We did a lot of fun and buggy things this week!

Neat things happened at Discovery this week! We started learning about wetlands in science! We learned about and made our own fact triangle families in math. We wrote a story about money with Mrs. Bracey. Our school had Spirit Week and the WALK-A-THON! Mrs. F started passing out Fabulous Fish to kids who are doing phenomenal work! These are the AWESOME things we did this week!

Tons of things happened in second grade this week! We learned addition shortcuts in math. We started Read to Someone in Daily 5. We also did the Surprise Word Chant. We got ready for Walk-A-Thon by making a poster. We learned about systems in science. You can't take things away or add things if you want the system to still work. This week second grade was SUPER!

We did lots of things in Mrs. F's class this week. We learned about organisms and how scientists sort them. The whole second grade went on a field trip to the Mercer Slough to start learning about Wetlands. We talked about fluency in Ladybug CAFE. We learned a new game in math called Doubles or Nothing. We started having an Eagle that CARES scout. They give awards to people showing cooperation, assertion, respect & responsibility, empathy, and self-control. These are the many fun things we did.

We finished doing Wonder Words for CARES and learned what it takes to be an Eagle that CARES. We talked about U.S. Currency in Math. We made surprises to welcome our parents to Curriculum Night too! We love being in second grade!

Our class did many things this week! We made our own ABC chart with bugs! Mrs. Svore came and drew butterflies with us. We met our own caterpillars and made them a home to become a butterfly in! For Daily 5 we made Word Work folders so we can work on spelling and writing. We kept reading James and the Giant Peach too! These are the many awesome things we did this week!

We did so many things our first few days of second grade! Our class sang happy birthday to Brownie (our class dog) and learned when everyone celebrates their birthdays. We learned about "good fit" books and filled up our Daily 5 bins. We did our first science experiment on shadows and the movement of the sun. We also did some writing about our hopes and dreams. We hope the rest of our school year is just as great as these first few days!!!
